Birthday ;)

Hi .
Tomorrow's my birthday ! turning 21 on the 20th ! Seems strange isn't it , that year after year, we keep on celebrating these "special" days. For some insight, lets draw up a hypothetical situation / debate on the underlying social structure and mechanics of special days

Why ? Why Birthdays ? Why festivals ? Why Special Occasions .? Why at all ?

When you start living life routinely, a sense of dullness sets into place, one which - if unchecked, leads to the dampening of the human spirit and vigor. It is an inevitable situation, unless the person concerned has some hyperactivity disorders.

How does the normal dude deal with all these ! If he finds even the Deccan Chronicle (smug expression) abstract, then how will he perceive the higher planes of social behavior.

Well, there's the wonderful system that induces the feeling of wellness and freedom, apart from the huge doses of happiness and interaction. This is the human way of "rejoicing". The way to escape from that all pervasive dreadfulness called boredom.

As long as there's anything happening out of the ordinary, there's a reason to celebrate. For example (i m sick of these examples), when we score well in exams, we do tend to "celebrate" .
If we didn't , it would push us into the category of , as my friend seriously (to those who can understand) calls" geeks" .

Now, enough of digression, let us reposition/ refocus the discussion on the particular issue of Birthdays.

These are days that you spend with your family, cherishing memories of childhood and in the process of doing this, strengthen the foundations of trust and care that are essential for a family.
Whatever may be the day, it does induce a special feeling, of being ALIVE , of being with people whom you trust, whom you depended on, and those very people on whom your survival was guaranteed !
